Magic

We're working on a brief at college based on Magic, a mega good topic in my opinion. I'm looking into native american culture and ceremonies. Here are some things I've been playing around with, connecting the human being and the spiritual world. The space image is from the hubble website.

Popjoy

This is the final edit of our short film "Popjoy"

Kitchen Appliance Lovvers Collective

This is an animation i've been working on for the past module in a group of 7 of us. The theme was recipes so we wanted to concentrate on actions in the kitchen.

'Popjoy' on location

These are some exclusive behind the scenes photos shot on the set of our short film 'Popjoy'. Its inspired by surrealist avant garde films and sure to be a bit creepy, the narrative in the film focuses on a woman named Juliana Popjoy who, after the death of her lover, went mad and lived in a tree.

And here is a sample of the storyboards i drew out.

Typography

This is the work i made during the 4 weeks we spent doing typography. I started by playing around creating letterforms on a grid, this is the initial typeface i chose to develop, its almost illegible and more a set of graphical shapes, but would make a pretty good secret code for anyone who can read it!

Later on in the project i got into the print room and made these screen prints using kraftwerk lyrics. It says "I program my home computer, beam myself into the future", but thats kind of beside the point 'cos you can't read it anyway!

With these prints i experimented with using a gloss instead of ink for the background of the letters and printing black ink onto black paper, some of them came out pretty well but its hard to see in these photos.

Dedication to in almost every picture no.8

There is a book by Erik Kessels that features a bunny called oolong whose unusually flat head makes it perfect for balancing objects on. Charlie hasn't got quite such a flat head but still enjoyed this little task. This is a dedication to that amazing book.

Zine!

After a pretty hectic assignment set to draw 100 people (in a week) we got back to college and were told to put together a zine. I was grouped up with Anna who drew 100 chairs and Jo who did 100 typefaces (which to mix things up were all rubbings of words).

this is the zine we put together, it has no name, there's hardly a narrative or any sense to it so i don't think it deserves a name!
